Since we live in Singapore, this list will be periodically updated as we eat at more places. I've organized the below by category.

* next to the restaurant name means there is a separate gluten free menu you have to ask for. Otherwise the restaurants have labels on the menu or your can talk to your server.

If I have listed "GF" next to the name of a dish, that's because you have to request the GF version of that dish. For instance, Amo makes both regular calamari and GF calamari (in different fryers).

"Bowls"

#02-23 Asia Square Tower 2

12 Marina View

Singapore, 018961

Ate: Make your own bowls are all GF EXCEPT for:

-farro, pasta, bread bases (I always get quinoa or lettuce)

-tofu protein (I always get chicken or steak)

All sides are GF

Vietnamese

Asia Square Food Garden

#02-14, 8 Marina View

Singapore 578879

Ate: Pho with beef slices, bun with chicken, crispy chicken rice, prawn rice paper rolls

349 Beach Road

Singapore 199570

Ate: Fried pork spring rolls, beef brisket pho, papaya salad, bun bo hue, rice with lemongrass chicken

Other Asian

23 Bali Lane

Singapore 189859

Ate: Chicken larb, sticky rice, green curry

Violet Oon* (Peranakan)

1 St. Andrew's Road #02-01

The National Gallery, City Hall Wing

Singapore 178957

Ate: Pineapple Patcharee, Sambal Timun Nanas, Nyonya Atchar, Sambal Kim Chiam Udang, Idly with Tomato and Coconut Chutney, Buah, Keluak Ayam, Rebung Masak Lemak, Beef Rendang, Daging Chabek Beef Cheek, Kueh Beng Kah, Pulot Hitam

The Coconut Club (Malaysian)

28 Ann Siang Road, Ann Siang House

Singapore 069708

Ate: Nasi Lemak (basic) with GF sambal

Western

19 Yong Siak St

Singapore 168650

Ate: EVERYTHING. This whole freakin' restaurant is gluten free.

2 Bayfront Avenue Floor 01

Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands

Singapore 018972

Ate: Roasted pork belly, BSK snickers

Many locations island-wide

Ate: Peri-peri chicken (on the bone), wedges, chips, caulimash, corn on the cob

Several locations island-wide

Ate: Coyote burger (lettuce wrapped), fries, sweet potato fries

49 East Coast Road

Singapore 428768

Ate: Lamb shank

271 Bukit Timah Road, #01-02

Balmoral Plaza

Singapore 259708

Ate: Gluten free fish and chips (ONLY available on Tuesdays. They clean their fryers on Monday evening and leave one as a dedicated GF fryer on Tuesday.)

“Mexican”

I put this in quotes because none of this food is truly Mexican. At best, it’s Tex-mex. At worst, the owner went to a Taco Bell once and that is the entirety of their knowledge of “Mexican Cuisine”. (I’m looking at you, Baja Fresh!)

Chains: Guzman y Gomez, Mad Mex, Baja Fresh

Burrito bowls, nachos, corn tacos, and salads are all GF at these restaurants.

36 Beach Road The South Beach | Unit 01-03, Singapore 189766

Ate: Burrito bowl

70 Collyer Quay Customs House | #01-04 Customs House, Singapore 049323

(They have another location which I have not been to at 60 Robertson Quay The Quayside | #01-13, The Quayside, Singapore 238252)

Ate: Esquites, Tostada de res (they replaced the fried tortilla with a fresh one), taco de pescado

Note that their labeling doesn’t account for cross-contamination in the shared fryer so ask!

39 Seah Street, Singapore 188395, Singapore

Ate: Chips, pico de gallo, guacamole, tacos al pastor, tacos de asada, tacos de pollo, esquites

Note that they use one griddle for everything, so there is a possibility of cross contamination from the quesadilla. I’ve taken the risk many times and have not had symptoms after. YMMV

BBQ

66 Kampong Bugis Kallang Rivergreen Building | #01-01, Singapore 338987

Ate: Pork ribs (bbq sauce), lechon, pork belly, cauliflower steak, patatas bravas

60 Robertson Quay The Quayside | 01-17 The Quayside, Singapore 238252

Ate: GF fried chicken, GF buffalo cauliflower, French fries

Italian

321 Alexandra Road Alexandra Central | Unit 01-14, Singapore 159971

Ate: GF Supreme pizza

33 Hongkong Street, Singapore 059672

Ate: every damn thing on their gluten free menu. Pastas, fried calamari, roasted meats, everything.

French

27 Seah Street, # 01-01, Singapore 188383, Singapore

Ate: Savory buckwheat crepes (La groix, Stephan’s favourite, Ham and cheese); Sweet buckwheat crepes (Geraldine’s favourite, Esteban’s favourite).

They also have GF beer on the menu!

Sushi & Indian

Do these cuisines belong in the same category together? Not usually. But when we're talking gluten free options on the island of Singapore, they do.

Any sushi restaurant can make you a nice gluten free sashimi or nigiri. You can even go to a cheap and cheerful sushi conveyer belt place and just get the nigiri as it rolls around. (My fav is Sushiro but you can go to any of them). Avoid anything with a sauce on it/rolls and BYOTamari packets and you'll be happy as a clam.

Any Indian restaurant will have a plethora of options for you. My go-tos are either biryani (which is always served with pappadum, not naan, so don't worry about the last minute contamination of your meal as they plop a naan on top) or a well-known main like saag paneer, lamb rogan josh, chicken vindaloo with rice. Avoid daal if you can as there is a chance hing/aesofoetida (which is glutenous) has been added.
